A GIANT LEIOMYOMA IN THE SUPRACLAVICULAR REGION: A RARE CASE REPORT

Abstract
Leiomyoma is a benign soft tissue neoplasm originating from smooth muscles. While leiomyomas most frequently occur in the uterine myometrium (95%), they are also found in the skin (3%), gastrointestinal system (1.5%), and in less than 1% of cases in the head and neck region . The tumor generally appears in the 4th and 5th decades of life, more commonly in females, and typically presents as a slow-growing, asymptomatic lesion.
The main treatment for leiomyoma is surgical resection, and recurrence is quite rare. In this case report, we present a rare case of a giant solid leiomyoma located in the supraclavicular region, which we evaluated clinically, histopathologically, and radiologically

Özet
Leiomyom, düz kaslardan kaynaklanan iyi huylu bir yumuşak doku tümörüdür. Leiomyomlar en sık rahim miyometriyumunda (%95) görülmekle birlikte, deri (%3), gastrointestinal sistem (%1,5) ve %1’den daha az olgularda baş ve boyun bölgesinde de bulunabilir. Tümör genellikle 40-50 yaşlar arasında ortaya çıkar, daha çok kadınlarda görülür ve genellikle yavaş büyüyen, semptomsuz bir kitle olarak kendini gösterir.
Leiomyomun başlıca tedavisi cerrahi eksizyondur ve nüks oldukça nadirdir. Bu olgu sunumunda, supraklaviküler bölgede yer alan dev bir solid leiomyom nadir bir vaka olarak klinik, histopatolojik ve radyolojik açıdan değerlendirilmiştir.
