A RARE CAUSE OF CHRONIC RHINOSINUSITIS: ECTOPIC THIRD MOLAR TOOTH AND DENTIGEROUS CYST

Abstract
Ectopic tooth is a condition in which there exists a temporary or permanent extra tooth outside the dental arc. Rarely seen, this condition may exist in various parts of the maxillofacial region. If ectopic tooth appears in the maxillary sinus, it may cause such disorders as nasal flow with an unpleasant smell and chronic rhinosinusitis. In this peculiar case, the patient who applied with a complaint about chronic rhinosinusitis was examined physically, and it was detected that there exists a cystic mass and an ectopic tooth located in the left maxillary sinus. In this study, we aim to share our experience of this anomaly which is rarely seen in literature.

Özet
Ektopik diş dental arkın dışında geçici veya kalıcı fazladan diş bulunması durumudur. Çok nadir görülen bu durum maksillofasiyal bölgede çeşitli yerleşimlerde olabilmektedir. Maksiller sinüs içerisinde yerleşim gösterirse kötü kokulu burun akıntısı, kronik rinosinüzit gibi hastalıklara neden olabilmektedir. Bu olguda kronik sinüzit şikayetleriyle başvuran hastaya muayene ve tetkikler yapılmıştır. Maksiller sinüs içerisinde kistik kitle ve ektopik diş tespit edilmiştir. Literatürde nadir görülen bu anomali ile ilgili tecrübelerimizi paylaşmayı amaçladık.
